Marijuana Detox
If you are smoking cannabis on a regular basis and it is beginning to take over your life and your relationships, then you may need some help. Unfortunately, as it is not officially recognized as an addiction, help isn’t always available in the official channels. There are clinics out there that understand how addictive this drug can be though, and they can help you with your addiction.
The first step is to admit that you have a problem and to recognize that it is a problem. This is something that many marijuana addicts just don’t do. They convince themselves that it’s okay because it’s not heroin or meth. But it’s still a drug, they are still addicted and it is still consuming their lives.
Admitting that you have a problem to yourself should be followed by admitting it to others. They are the ones that can help you after all. It’s never wise to go this alone. You need their guidance and support. You need them to keep temptation out of the way, to help you through tough times and to provide a supportive shoulder for you to cry on.
Support with Weed Detox
Once you have admitted the problem and you have the support, then you can look to taper off the drug. This is always the best way, even with drugs that don’t cause any serious physical symptoms. You should always refrain from substituting one addiction for another, so stay away from alcohol and other drugs. Keep your body healthy and your mind active; stay away from temptation; and make sure there is no weed within reach.
There will be tough times and times of doubt. Expect these, prepare for them and work through them. You might be tempted to go to a rehab clinic and to get help that way. If you have the money and the means, go for it. But providing there is no underlying mental illness and you are not addicted to other drugs, then this is something that you can get through without any great difficulty.
Marijuana Detox Drinks
A market has sprung up for marijuana detox drinks, all of which are aimed at people looking to quickly get clean in order to pass a drug test. Marijuana detox is not an instant process, so don’t let any of these drinks trick you into thinking it is. Also, if you’re looking to rid your body of marijuana via a simple drink, we’re sorry to disappoint, but it doesn’t work like that.
Marijuana can be quickly cleaned out of your blood and urine (although not instantly) but it will remain in your hair for months and this is not an easy fix. So, don’t buy into the fad and don’t think that a simple drink can help you through a drug test, not unless the person doing the test misses the obvious or doesn’t run the test properly.
Many of these marijuana detox drinks will actually advise you that you stop smoking weed for several days while drinking the drink. In most cases, this will help you to pass even without the drink, as this is all you need to get all traces out of blood and urine. But some can help to speed up the process by acting as a director and a cleanser. They probably won’t be a great deal more effective than drinking a lot of water, working out and eating cleanly, but they might be able to help if you can’t or won’t do these things.
Detox Drinks for Weed that Work
There isn’t a great deal of info out there on the drinks that do work. But it is important to note that many of the popular ones are just using simple herbs and plant materials, before adding a fancy branding and then charging a small fortune. Many of the ingredients used are surplus to requirements and are there to impress as opposed to cleanse.
You can get the same effects by consuming plenty of fiber or taking a soluble fibre supplement, and by consuming herbs like dandelion root, milk thistle, licorice root and a good multivitamin formula. But in any case, no marijuana detox drinks are 100% effective 100% of the time, and in no case will they help you pass a hair test. When you consider that this is one of the most popular tests for marijuana, that should tell you all you need to know.
Some of these products are also confusing in the ingredients they use. Diuretics make sense as you want to flush everything out, but some of them use creatine. This is better known as a performance enhancer and it works by drawing water into the muscles and essentially retaining more water. When combined with something that has the opposite effect, it creates a confusing ingredient profile that has a push-pull effect on the body.
Detox Pills for Weed
Again, this is something that is taken to help the person pass a marijuana drug test. But marijuana detox pills are just as hit and miss and it’s more about your body then anything else. i know what you’re thinking, “But a friend of a friend took one and he passed a test!” That may be true, but there’s a good chance that he just left plenty of time between the last dose and the test and that the drug had naturally left his system by then.
As explained on our How Long Does Weed Stay in Your System section, it only takes a matter of hours to leave the blood and a few days to leave the urine. If you only used once and are healthy, then you can be clean in a few days. You can certainly help yourself by taking diuretics and other things that help to speed up the body’s processes, but they are not miracle workers.
look for liver cleansing products. These are often marketed as aids for overconsumption and they cost a lot less than marijuana detox pills, even though the ingredients are very similar. You should also consume plenty of fiber and drink a lot of water.
24 Hour Weed Detox
There is nothing out there that can get all traces of marijuana out of your body in as little as 24 hours. You might be lucky enough to get it out of your blood or urine, but even then that is highly unlikely. Be very cautious with any product that claims to be able to help you with this. Make sure you look at reviews and do some research on the ingredients being used. Also, look at the claims they are making.
Are they asking that you don’t smoke weed for several days beforehand and are they only promising to remove all traces from your urine? If so, then they’re just making sure that it is naturally out of your body anyway.
Other Weed Detox Fads
There is synthetic urine out there that can help you to pass a test. The problem is, a lot of this can be detected. There is actually an industry for people selling fake urine and you can buy and review different brands of this urine. Many customers report that the urine was detected as fake, while others suggest that there are genuine fake urines to pass drug tests.
It’s all a little bizarre—not something we want to delve too deeply into. But needless to say that even if you find an effective “product” that’s only the first step in the process. You then have to find out how you’re going to “pass” that “product”.
Good luck with that.
How to Detox From Weed
The best way to go through a weed detox is to first stop using (no-brainer) and to then adopt a healthy diet. Drink plenty of water. Exercise. Most importantly, try to keep stress to a minimum and try to avoid any temptations. You might feel that you’re strong enough now, but during the detox there will be weak moments and the only way to stop yourself is to make sure you don’t have an immediate fix within reach.
So, separate yourself from the friends who smoke and would want to tempt you back. Stop doing the things that stress you out the most. You should also stop drinking alcohol. You might think this would help you, but the reduced inhibition and the increased cravings mean that many people drinking while going through a weed detox actually end up smoking cannabis.
Natural Detox for Weed: Helpful Supplements
As mentioned above, there are a few supplements that can help you to quickly detox from marijuana. These are beneficial whether you are detoxing for a drug test or whether you just want to speed towards sobriety:
- Milk Thistle: This plant extract can help your liver to detox. It supports the organ and the processes that it needs to undertake in order to flush toxins from your body. Milk thistle is abundantly available and can be taken as a tea or a tablet.
- Protein: Your body needs protein to keep regenerating new cells. You need protein that has a complete profile of BCAAs. So, try to eat plenty of vegetable proteins as well as dairy and lean meats/fish. If you don’t get enough then supplement with whey.
- B Vitamins: Also essential for cell regeneration, your body needs everything from B6 to B12, from biotin to niacin. You can get these in complete B Vitamin supplements.
- Fiber: You need soluble fiber to clump all of that waste together and to pull it out of your body. You can get this from things like rice bran fiber as well as psyllium husk.
